Every day, runoff pollution from our streets and neighborhoods- including plastic bags, Styrofoam food containers, and cigarette butts, washes into storm drains and flows through creeks, where it discharges into the Bay untreated. This is the single largest source of Bay pollution.
To celebrate National River Cleanup Day (a week early), join South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition in removing this toxic litter from Los Gatos Creek before it has a chance to reach our Bay. No experience necessary. School aged children welcome with parental supervision!
Parking is on the street. The cross streets are Wright Place and Auzerais Avenue where the sign-up table will be adjacent to the entrance of the bike trail next to Los Gatos Creek.
Instructions for Cleanup Day:
Volunteers are asked to arrive between 8:30-8:45 am. Clean Creeks Coalition will be providing trash pick-up tools, trash bags, gloves and water. They ask everyone to wear heavy soled shoes, long pants, hat and sunscreen. The work will begin at 9:00 running through 11:30am.
~Thank you for volunteering with ACSJ. Our philanthropic efforts are meant to demonstrate that atheists care about our community. All volunteers are ACSJ representatives so it is essential to show respect and consideration for others, including those who may hold beliefs different than your own.
