Join the ACSJ for a family friendly (and dog-on-leash friendly) atheist afternoon in the park. This year’s venue will be the Sylvandale Group Picnic Area in Hellyer County Park in San Jose- and as always, we’ll be doing it potluck style!

Picnic Site: The Sylvandale Group Picnic Area in Hellyer County Park. (See north area on map). The site includes covered picnic tables, a large BBQ grill, horseshoe pit, and large grassy area adjacent. Restrooms and parking are very close to the handicap accessible picnic area. While dogs must remain on leash, there is a nearby dog park for off leash play. There is also fishing at Cottonwood Lake, an Olympic-size velodrome, and a playground. No smoking in the park, please.

Also of note, there is a $6 entrance fee per vehicle to the park, so carpool if you can or walk in from street parking that can be found on or near Sylvandale ave and Grandbook ave.

• Enter Via Paid Parking Entrance: Navigate to “985 Hellyer Avenue, San Jose, CA” and enter the entrance north of Hellyer road, then turn left at the fork in the road and follow the road all the way to the last parking lot next to our picnic site.

• Enter Via Sylvandale Ave Entrance: Navigate to “874 Sylvandale Ave, San Jose, CA ” and then walk east to the dead end where the pedestrian entrance is located. Follow the trail to the left down a hill where you’ll see our site.

• Enter Via the Grandbrook Way (Coyote Creek) Trail Entrance: Navigate to “3933 Grandbrook Way San Jose, CA”, and then follow the trail as it heads south down under the Yerba Buena Rd overpass. You’ll see our neighboring picnic site first and then you’ll see us after a short walk down the trail.

We look forward to spending the afternoon with you and your family!
