Inspiration Point Walk-and-Weed Day hosted by California Native Plant Society
We will meet to remove invasive species like yellow star thistle. This winter annual is considered to be California’s worst rangeland weed, according to the California Invasive Plant Council. With your help, we can eradicate this invasive plant from the park. Anyone who enjoys hiking, being outdoors, and giving nature a helping hand can help. Training in weed identification and removal is provided.
At the entrance kiosk, identify yourself as a weeding volunteer, and your entrance fee will be waived. Drive up the road and park .5 miles after going under a cement bridge in a parking lot across from the Log Cabin. Meet at the Maintenance Bldg adjacent to the log cabin at 9 am for orientation & training. Together we will walk up to Inspiration Point, weed for 2-3 hours, then walk back down to the parking lot. Dress in layers, appropriately for the weather. Wear hiking boots/shoes, long pants, and a cap/hat. Bring water, sunblock, sturdy weeding gloves (optional).
For volunteers 14-18 years old, a guardians signature is required on the release form. You can view and download/print your release form and pre-fill it out by following this link:
