In autumn 1990, Christopher Andrew Johnston joined a new religious movement that called themselves the Buddhafield. During the sixteen years he was with the group he served their leader on a daily basis in a variety of roles. As his involvement deepened the behind the scenes antics of the self-styled “spiritual master” became increasingly absurd and exploitative. Chris speaks candidly about his experience in a conversational style that includes audience member participation. His story is documented in the film Holy Hell, a movie by film maker Will Allen that is available on iTunes and Amazon.

This event is free to our members and their guests, though we do accept donations. We are a 501(c)(3) and all your donations are tax deductible. Thank you for supporting your local atheist community!
We will be giving away a free BBN T-shirt to a community member who attended one of September’s philanthropic events, such as Second Harvest Food Sort (9/28) or giving blood at SBC (9/10). (Those who already won a shirt can not win again, and winners are drawn from those present.) Keep volunteering with ACSJ for your chance to win!
