It just may take a while…
In spite of disastrous Supreme Court decisions–including Hobby Lobby–in recent years, there is mounting evidence that the American people are sick and tired of right-wing preachers dictating US policy and that rightwing parents are losing control over their own childrens’ minds. We’ll look at the good, the bad and the ugly of church/state separation as we approach the mid-term elections.
Join us as Barry Lynn visits from Washington DC and will present to us some of the latest on church/state separation news and strategy. Since 1992, the Rev. Barry W. Lynn has served as executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, a Washington, D.C.-based organization dedicated to the preservation of the Constitution’s religious liberty provisions.
In addition to his work as a long-time activist and lawyer in the civil liberties field, Lynn is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, offering him a unique perspective on church-state issues. You can read more from his bio.
This will be an eye-opening discussion for anyone who is concerned about religion creeping further into political policy, and why you should care.
**Due to the ACSJ paying for Barry’s travel cost, we are requiring a $10.00 entrance donation for each person attending the meeting. Receipts available upon request as donations are tax deductible.
